What we learned at MWC Kigali 2025
Marc Kruijs
Chief Commercial Officer at PXSIt was great to be back at MWC Kigali, alongside my colleagues Bart Derks and Jasper Maarschalkerweerd. As always, we received a warm welcome and it was a pleasure to reconnect with our friends and partners in person. This visit was combined with our efforts to implement number portability in Rwanda. We also played a key role in the first Ministerial Programme of MWC Kigali.
Let me share our key take aways!
Growing connectivity
A big topic in the keynotes and sessions was Africa’s transformation of connectivity. As mobile coverage expands and smartphones become affordable, more people are coming online. Combined with the rollout of 5G and the rise of AI, this digital growth paves the way for new opportunities across the continent.
Modernizing regulations
I was honored to join the panel discussion on Modernizing Regulations for the Digital Era. We discussed how regulators can harness emerging technologies and shifting consumer expectations, through adaptive regulatory frameworks. Cross-border collaboration, a shift from ‘market control’ to ‘empowerment’, and applying best practices came out as key drivers.
At PXS we believe there are four important pillars to modernizing regulations. You can read more about that in my blog, or download the whitepaper to dive deeper.
MWC Kigali on the rise
As this was our third appearance at the event, we can truly say MWC Kigali gains momentum. We noticed a clear growth from previous years. It’s always a pleasure to meet partners at our booth and exchange thoughts – even better to put those ideas into action. A big thank you to the MWC Kigali team and our partners.
See you next year!
